Clayton Hotel Burlington Road – over 650 Hospitality, Catering and Tourism professionals gathered at last week’s IHI Founder’s Evening & Hospitality Management Awards. The IHI Hospitality Management Awards (HMAs) are not about the hotel /restaurant/tourist attraction or catering venue, they are a recognition of the nominated person in their role, their capability, technical skills, innovation, passion and excellence in what they do.

In March, the IHI hosted the 38th National Business Management Game. Participating colleges included; TU Dublin, Shannon College of Hotel Management, Galway International Hotel School -ATU and Dundalk IT. The game tests participating teams on their business acumen & management skills. This year's game was held at the Galmont Hotel & Spa. After two very intense & exciting days of competition, a group of 5 students from Shannon College of Hotel Management were declared the outright winners. Rachel O'Connell captained the winning team & teammates included Sam Downey, Jamie Carton, Sherine Woodcock & Bruno Pineda Ballester.

The IHI National Hospitality Business Management Game 2022

A team of 4 students representing Galway – Mayo Institute of Technology, International Hotel School were selected as the winners of the Irish Hospitality Institute's National Hospitality Business Management Game 2022.

Brian Bowler FIHI is appointed IHI President

A new era for the Hospitality Sector: Pictured to celebrate the appointment as President of the Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI) is, Brian Bowler FIHI, General Manager of The Montenotte Hotel, Cork. The Irish Hospitality Institute is the professional body for managers within the hospitality and tourism industry in Ireland. Brian is the first President of the IHI from Kerry, since the organisation was founded in 1966 and is delighted to be leading hospitality professionals through the next era, after what has been a critical time for the industry.

“Leading Your HR Strategy in the Hospitality Industry in Challenging Times”

On Wednesday, 11th March we held a breakfast seminar “Leading Your HR Strategy in the Hospitality Industry in Challenging Times”, in The Mayson Dublin, with guest speaker Caroline McEnery, Managing Director, The HR Suite. The focus was on managing HR strategies in challenging times and topical areas including the Coronavirus.

Galway – Mayo Institute of Technology International Hotel School Wins the 36th Irish Hospitality Institute National Hospitality Business Management Game 2021

A team of 5 students representing Galway – Mayo Institute of Technology, International Hotel School were selected as the outright winners of the 36th Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI) National Hospitality Business Management Game 2021. IHI National Hospitality Management Game

Congratulations to the IHI National Hospitality Business Management Game 2020 Winners, TU Dublin School of Hospitality Management & Tourism. The game was held on March 1st & 2nd at the Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport. The Game was followed by another successful Student Seminar. Amie Kinsella, Charbel Yazbeck, Sarah Kenny, Dylan Leon and Ina Bivol.

Dundalk IT win the IHI National Hospitality Business Management Game 2019

The IHI National Hospitality Business Management Game took place on March 3rd and 4th at the Clayton Dublin Airport Hotel. It was an extremely successful event with seven teams competing. Congratulations to the team from Dundalk IT, who included Andrew Reddan, Erin O’Kane, Niall Fretwell and Nicole Murphy.

On Thursday,17th October 2019, the IHI held a Breakfast Seminar with guest speaker John Burk, MD Armada Hotel, at Shannon College of Hotel Management. It was a great opportunity to meet and network with industry colleagues and the next generation of young managers in our industry.

Fellows & Patrons Evening

Our Fellows & Patrons evening was held on November 3rd at Dromoland Castle. It was an exceptional evening with delicious food and absolutely superb service.

Oonagh Cremins is elected President of the IHI

On Friday, May 17th, outgoing President Matthias Muller FIHI, handed over the Presidential Chain of Office to incoming President Oonagh Cremins. As well as becoming the IHI President Oonagh also received Fellowship of the Insitute.
