Our Story – 60 years of the Irish Hospitality Institute
A very special evening celebrating 60 years of the Irish Hospitality Institute at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum.
On 16 September 1966, seven individuals signed the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Irish Hotel and Catering Institute, establishing what would become the Irish Hospitality Institute.
Sixty years on, the founding principles of professionalism, education, continuous learning, knowledge-sharing, leadership and support for those working in our industry remain at the heart of the IHI.
On the evening, we reflected on our history and and heard from some of the people who have helped shape the Institute and the wider hospitality and tourism industry in Ireland.
A huge thank you to our wonderful panelists Paul Boksberger, Paula Daly, Fergal O’Connell, Oonagh Cremins, Daragh O’Neill FIHI, Micheala Mcilkenny and Aine O’Neill for generously sharing their journeys, experiences and hopes for the future. Your stories were a wonderful reminder that the history of the IHI is ultimately a history of people, relationships, leadership and shared commitment to our industry.
